Tyrese has revealed that his beloved big sister, Shonta Gibson, has passed away.
The singer and actor took to his Instagram on Thursday (October 5) to share the heartbreaking news.

“I can’t believe I am about to post these 3 letters again…. RIP to my beloved Angel of a big sister Shonta Gibson… My heart is so heavy posting this because sadly, I’ve lost so many people over the years in this very short window of time,” he wrote. “I’m really in a place where I’m just numb and I’ve found that I’ve become even more selfless and more concerned about everyone else and their needs over mines.”

He continued: “My 2 Nieces Star and Tanisha are the 2 oldest and hearing them say the words “We didn’t just lose out mother, we lost our best friend, our biggest inspiration and day to day support system who raised them BOTH into foot soldiers for Christ and they’ve both became wives and mothers themselves […] I love your HEART!!!! Pray for the Gibson’s the Bells, and Meeks, the Ellis, the Durham’s the Snowden’s my whole family needs all the love we can get at this time…. Thank you JESUS!!! Shon was always the brightest light in every room she ever stepped into…. Heaven gained a new Angel… I couldn’t be more proud to be your baby brother… I will see you again….. Amen!!!!”

Back in April 2022, Tyrese revealed to his fans that he was struggling, mentally, because he was dealing with a number of deaths at the same time.
In a lengthy Instagram post, Tyrese admitted he’s still struggling with the death of his Fast & Furious co-star Paul Walker, director John Singleton, songwriter LaShawn Daniels and his mother, who passed away in February 2022. He also confessed his divorce from Samantha Lee has been weighing him down over the past almost two years.
“Paul I promise you I got you bro,” he begins. “#FASTX I think I need more therapy I’m still not over losing my mom, Paul, John Singleton, and Lashawn Daniels. When people pass on? They just leave us all here to deal with it. That’s really painful stuff pray for me y’all….. lately I’ve e been unraveling, painfully processing this all… This divorce has to end she has dragged this all out for a year and 8 months. I just want peace and to be left alone.”
