Quavo has announced that he will be releasing a collaboration with his late nephew, TakeOff.

Titled “Dope Boy Phone”, Quavo announced the single on social media with a brief snippet of the track and a clip of how the song’s cover art was made.

The clip shows Quavo in the studio putting a number of burner phones into a tray and then wrapping them up and taking the picture that is the song’s official cover art.

It was also announced that “Dope Boy Phone” will be dropping tomorrow (May 2).

Late last year was the second anniversary of TakeOff’s death at the age of 28.

TakeOff (real name Kirshnik Ball) was shot and killed outside a bowling alley in Houston, Texas in the early hours of November 1, 2022. The 28-year-old was fatally wounded after a dice game turned violent and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Quavo, who was with TakeOff at the time of the shooting, was unscathed, while two other victims were transported to nearby hospitals with gunshot wounds.

Quavo and TakeOff’s mothers Edna Maddox and Titania Davenport also sat down with the White House’s Office of Gun Violence Prevention Deputy Director, Greg Jackson, for ‘Turning Pain Into Purpose: A Conversation On Gun Violence,’ where they discussed the feeling of losing loved ones to gun violence, and their efforts to prevent this from happening to others.
