Tory Lanez‘s attacker has been revealed as Santino Casio, a fellow inmate who is currently serving a life sentence for murder.
According to the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, Casio attacked Lanez early on Monday (May 12) in a housing unit.
The Canadian rapper was stabbed a total of 14 times even though it is reported that prison staff responded to the attack immediately and gave Lanez prompt medical aid before he was transferred to hospital.
It is not yet known what Casio’s motive for the attack might be but the convict has been placed in restricted housing while an investigation into the stabbing takes place.

Casio also has history of violence in prison, having previously received an additional six years on his sentence for assaulting a prisoner with a deadly weapon. He also received an extra two years for possession of a deadly weapon.
Lanez suffered serious injuries from the attack with both of his lungs collapsing resulting in him being put on a breathing machine by doctors.
Despite the severity of the attack, Lanez is now breathing on his own and able to talk.
He is also expected to make a full recovery from the attack.

Lanez is currently serving a 10-year sentence for shooting Megan Thee Stallion in 2020.
His time in prison has been eventful as he has been prolifically recording music from behind bars and started a feud with PartyNextDoor while also continuing to engage in legal battles with the Houston Hottie.
Lanez was recently accused of deliberately sabotaging a deposition after Megan’s lawyers visited him in jail ahead of the female MC’s civil trial against YouTuber Milagro Gramz.

During the meeting, it is claimed that Lanez was “disruptive, inflammatory and inconsistent with the basic norms of civil litigation that even his own counsel […] disavowed it.”
A filing to the judge alleges that the Canadian rapper pretended during the deposition that he didn’t know words such as “discuss,” “approve” and “meet,” and aimed “petty, misogynistic jabs” at one of Megan’s lawyers regarding her hair color and appearance.
Lanez has not commented on his alleged behavior during the deposition.
