Diddy is accused of “brutally” beating Cassie one night after discovering that she was allegedly having an affair with another man.

The claim came out during opening statements in Diddy’s sex trafficking trial which begins in earnest today (May 12).

During opening statements, prosecutor Emily Johnson detailed an alleged violent incident between the former couple.

Johnson alleged that Diddy “physically abused” and “exploited” Cassie during the course of their 11 year relationship.

Johnson claims that Diddy became particularly violent after discovering that the R&B singer was seeing another man behind his back.

Johnson said in court: “Furious he set out to find her. He said he would kill the man.”

The prosecutor revealed that Diddy did not find the man after breaking into his house.

Diddy would then allegedly find Cassie and “brutally” attacked her, “kicking her in the back and flinging her around like a rag doll”.

The trial is expected to last anywhere between eight and ten weeks.

If found guilty, he faces the prospect of decades in prison.

Diddy also turned down a plea deal from the government in favor of taking his case to trial.

During a recent hearing, Diddy was asked by the judge if he had rejected a plea deal from prosecutors with the rapper and producer replying: “Yes, I did.”

He also accepted that the decision could lead to a lengthier prison sentence if he was found guilty by the jury. It was not revealed what the terms of the offer were.

On the first day of jury selection last week (May 5), Diddy admitted that he was nervous about the trial.

Appearing in front of the judge, Diddy said: “I’m sorry your honor, I’m a little nervous today.”

The Bad Boy Records founder made the admission around 90 minutes into the selection process as he requested a brief break to go to the bathroom.
