Following his #1 debut, Rick Ross slipped a spot with his God Forgives, I Don’t. The Def Jam Records artist lost out, by approximately 50,000 spots to the Now 43 compilation.

The lone addition to the charts this week was from another South Florida act, ¡Mayday!. The Strange Music Hip Hop band’s second release of 2012, Thrift Store Halos, debuted at #124. Their March album, Take Me To Your Leader, debuted at #86.

Aesop Rock’s Skelethon and Mac Miller’s Blue Slide Park also returned to the Top 200, after weeks away.

Nas’ Life Is Good Slips Out Of The Top 10

One of the most-discussed albums of 2012, Nas’ Life Is Good, fell from the Top 10 for the first time this year. In its fourth week on the charts, the Def Jam Records release featuring Rick Ross, Swizz Beatz and Large Professor went to #12. Nas’ eleventh solo album has scanned just under 250,000 overall units to date.

¡Mayday!’s Thrift Store Halos Needs No Consignment

Miami sextet ¡Mayday! continues to enjoy their biggest career in a long-building career. The group’s seven-song digital EP, Thrift Store Halos sold just under 3,000 units. After working with Tech N9ne and Murs on their spring LP, the group led by Bernbiz and Wrekonize kept it all in-house on this one.

    1. Is there a site that shows the worldwide numbers? I’m curious to know what these artists are selling altogether…

      1. FLO RIDA MADE MORE MONEY THAN THE NAMES UP THERE HE DIDNT FLOP HIS FANS BUY EVERY SONG AS A SINGLE HE MAKE MORE DOIN THAT THAN SELLING ALBUMS

      2. This mafaka above me likes fools like Flo rida, that idiot is not even hiphop…and the same excuse his fans buy singles not albums, man fuck u n Flo rida…y du release albums if yo fans dnt buy albums??? release singles only then. Oh finaly u r tired of young money fools…

      3. hate Flo Rida but that dude didn’t flop. that’s why they play his songs on the radio to death. the man makes all his coin through singles dude. do your homework

    2. It’s clear all that hype about officer ricky was paid for and used as promotion by the label who are so desperate for him to succeed

    3. LMAO EVERYONE HATES ON MAC BUT THESES BIG BOSS LABEL IDIOTS CAN’T TOUCH HIS NUMBERS LOOK AT THE MAYBACH ALBUM AND ROSS ALBUM MAC WILL PROBABLY GO GOLD BEFORE ANYONE OF THESE CLOWNS

    4. Ricky Rozay winning all round.Reppin for HipHop on the billboard 200. Just got the album off itunes. Loved it 5stars, XXL 5mics.

    5. Rick Ross’ “God Forgives, I Don’t” gets squeezed out of the #1 spot, as Mayday! makes their second appearance on the charts in 2012 with “Thrift Store Halos.” How can you write the headline like that? It would mean they outsold rick ross, witch they didnt….

    6. I’m really looking forward to see 2 Chainz numbers, album is really good, one of top 5 albums this year, he has really good work ethic, hope he will sell as much as possible, he is the only one who deserve his, one of the last rappers who work their asses off

    7. Once again, real hip hop sells well, while backpack cracka rap like El-P & Aesop Rock flops and remains unnoticed. Rick Ross= visionary

      1. LOL @ “Sell’s Well”, FOH with that lowered expectations shit. Another Rick Ross album with 5 songs on the radio and all the promotion in the world that will struggle its way to gold. Rappers from 10 years ago use to sell better then Rick Ross out the trunk of their cars without the radio. The mainstream scene is holding on by a thread overpromoting the fuck outta garbage like this and barely making there money back on it

      2. ^^^^ I dont now nor have I ever listened to a Canibus record. And your hero is still and underachiever who sells about 20% of what he should be selling with the promotion he has

      3. I agree with anon. Ross’ numbers are good for a mid level star, but not good at all for someone who is supposed to be the hottest rapper in the game.

    8. Rap is dead in the mainstream. Drake is probably the biggest star out with the best numbers and thats only because half his shit sounds like R&B. Labels need to come up with some new styles to exploit, people are tired of the simple simon mediocre motherfuckers they been putting out. Throw millions of dollars behind Rick Ross and those are the best numbers your getting back, LOL, yeah its time to take a risk on summin new

      1. $7.00 multiplied by 488,000 equals $3,416,000.00 split 2 ways equals $1,708,000.00 for the label in only 7 weeks. That’s not even including album sales outside of the United States and singles. At this rate, the label should make at least $5,000,000.00 off of MMG by Christmas.

      2. did you just pull those numbers out of your ass or what? you know how much money the white guys upstairs are gonna take?

do you know how much money went into promoting both those albums? they had videos and ads and interviews everywhere,

      3. Your math and music business knowledge is severely flawed. Do yourself a favor, don’t take it personal, and stop talking about something you don’t know anything about.

    9. da fuck kinda numbers are these ?

damn … Meek Mill and Kendrick need to hurry up with their debuts, we need some better showings for hip hop than this.

    10. ROSS PROBABLY GETTING PAID OFF NAS ALBUM TOO. ROSS IS PROBABLY NAS NEW GHOSTWRITER SINCE JAE ELECTRONICA BEEN IN LONDON WITH THAT WHITE BITCH

    11. 488,000 albums sold in only 7 weeks isn’t bad at all and that’s not counting the albums in his catalog. MMG is legit to be such a new company. Haters can say what they say, however, the proof is in the domestic numbers for only 2 albums. Congratulations to Williams Roberts aka Ricky Rozay.

      1. LOL …RITE and still cant go GOLD SMH.. Thats a sign just because you get all the hot rappers and top Producers does not mean anything POINT PROVEN.. ###’s dont lie

      1. So fuck Eminem & Kanye both own a record label that has sold more… But anyway that ain’t the point that doesn’t qualify Jimmy Iovine to make a song called 3 Kings. And it ain’t what Officer Ricky meant.

      2. he doesnt own his own label, its just another logo to put on the back of the album the white men own his ass

      3. owns his label ahaha RICK ROSS IS A SLIP N SLIDE ARTIST WHAT THE FUCK YOU TALKING ABOUT? DO YOUR REASEARCH BEFORE YOU DICK RIDE AND 6MILLION WORLDWIDE IS PEANUTS THAT AINT SHIT

    12. YO THEY NEED TO RE-DO THE STANDARDS FOR PLAQUES…LIKE 500K SHOULD BE PLATINUM AND 250K GOLD NAHMEAN??? OTHERWISE THESE NIGGAZ WILL NEVER GET NO PLAQUES!!

      1. The standard shouldn’t be changed to accommodate the rap genre. It’s up to rap fans to start supporting their favorite artists and ease up on the downloading. Country and rock are still selling considerably well. R+B sales have fell the f#ck off, but today there is little difference between R+B and mainstream rap. It’s pretty much mashed up into one now.

      1. I’m DEFINITELY not a Rick Ross fan, but you have to give him credit, he certainly didn’t flop – actually, he had the best opening week of his career! Even with the large 2nd week drop, this will go Gold easy, and probably outsell Teflon Don long term (that one is at 730k).

    13. Jeezy still winning… 3 platinum plaques and 2 gold plaques (about to get a 4th platinum!!

Men lie, women lie… numbers dont!

      CTE4LIFE

    14. “THEY NEED TO RE-DO THE STANDARDS FOR PLAQUES…LIKE 500K SHOULD BE PLATINUM AND 250K GOLD NAHMEAN”

Stop using all caps, nah mean?

    15. The problem with changing the standards is other genres routinely push a million or more no problem. It’s the content that needs to be switched up. Most civilized people aren’t going to drive home from work listening to someone talking about selling crack no matter how good the beat is.

    16. Maybe the formula is getting tired, I’m sure some people in this bad economy find it hard to support somebody that keeps telling you they got money. Kinda like buying a Mitt Romney album.

      1. AS I WAS SAYING, I BOUGHT A MIT Romney ABLUM…..and it was like an old big times album..thank you very much!!

    17. Face mainstream, backpackers and in between rappers have been putting out garbage albums for last 4 years. The suit guys might as well give them the freedom they excercise on mixtapes and you might see better results in the bottom line they get from their slaves.

      1. Lil B has millions of You Tube views, impressive mixtape download numbers, and couldn’t sell 5,000 digital units on an indie label. Souljah Boy has sold millions of ringtones, millions of You Tube views and impressive retail sales, and holds the Guiness World Book record for the least amount of units sold first week ever in ANY genre of major record label music.

        IT’S THE FANS.

        IT’S THE FANS

    18. big ups to rick ross he is putting up really good numbers he has sold more than nas in his second week than nas in his fourth week not to mention the self made album will top out over 300k with a hit single i could seem hit platinum with this album

    19. Nas is never gonne go gold with them type of numbers, says alot for how much critical acclaim means these days. Great album everybody seems to love and look at the numbers, LMAO, them same thieves will be the ones crying when his next album has Lady Gaga on the single

Real Hip Hop fans = Worthless audience

      1. The irony is the “hottest MC” in the game and the “Boss” has similar sales numbers. Ross has had a “hot” mixtape, endless features, major press release with record executives talking for him, videos every 2-3 weeks, heavy radio rotation and promotion, magazine covers, and look at HIS numbers. You think we believe all of you rozay fans copped the album? LMAO

        dickriding/bandwagon fans=worthless audience

    20. Dont know why u guys always hate on 50 cent.So what if his last album didnt measure up to his previous 3 albums?500k insnt bad. He makes money by other means,u dont and he is a upright and model law abiding citizen, pls check ur facts. Curtis Jackson aka 50 Cent got busted for minor DUI IN 2000.Becos of his wrap sheet full of minor offences he was offered a deal to snitch or face jail.Curtis Jackson beig an upright citizen and wanting to walk a straight path offered some information to the feds but they wanted more.Curtis further offered to gather more information from his neighbourhood drug n crime activities and report back to the feds.Since meeting up with the feds was risky, Curtis Jackson being a smart guy opted to put his gathered information or “Snitching” in a record called “Ghetto Koran”.A good number of cold cases in New York has been solved based on this Affidavit ..sorry..based on that single. Now south jamaica queens is becoming safe. 50 cent can however not go back there bcos of threat to his life. What a selfless move to make his local neighbourhood safe

      1. hahaah you so fuckin stupid he was in queens 2 weeks ago giving out dirt bikes and atv’s every summer he has a big event and takes the kids to great adventures you internet idiots are so fucking funny a bullshit essay for what? get a life if you dont think 50 can go to queens go to you tube you another dumb fuck who belives anything 50 is the man in queens he never went hollywood like jeff he may not like your favorite rapper but he never shitted on southside like hollywood ja why you think it was so easy for 50 to clown ja? because queens dont give a fuck about jeff use your common sense

    21. Ok, so let me get this straight again Nas is the best of all time right??? 245,000 from the greatest rapper of all time, lol!!! Yeah right. If the best of all time comes out with an album, even if it’s whack, it will at least go 2 mil! We are talking the greatest of all time in their field and can’t go 1 mil? Can you say overrated?

      1. nobody buys albums unless you a start struck teenager nas is a legend and nothing can take that away from him you just should say mc hammer is the goat or vanilla ice if sales mean that much to you why do you care you not a record executive you dont see a dime of rap money

    22. rick ross is a slip n slide artist who is distributed by def slip n slide owns the mmg logo and this fat says he selfmade haah i bet you clowns didnt know trick daddy has stock n slip n slide so when ross eat trick eat but he eat off top ross is the last to get paid

    23. Seriously Dont know why u guys always hate on 50 cent.So what if his last album didnt measure up to his previous 3 albums?500k insnt bad. He makes money by other means,u dont and he is a upright and model law abiding citizen, pls check ur facts. 24. It’s sad to see how pirating is killing record sales mainly hip hop. I remember looking at Sound Scan Numbers back in the late 90’s early 2000’s and it was easy to go gold. Now Gold seems like the new platinum if you can reach it with these dismal sells SMH.

      1. ITS ALL THE ABOVE… AND PEOPLE LIKE U ALL THAT CANT REALIZE THAT UR ALL CORRECTN AND ARE ARGUING WIT EACHOTHER ABT IT.

TO MANY FUCKIN “KNOW IT ALL” STANS [THAT DONT KNOW OR RESPECT SHIT] AND NOT ENOUGH TALENTED ARTIST, NOT TO MENTION THE CREATIVE EFFORT AND SUBSTANCE FADING… = NIGGGAS WLD RATHER DOWNLOAD THAN PAY FOR THESE FUCKERS TO BE BRAGGIN ABT HOW MUCH THEY MAKE OFF SUCKERIN US BY SELLIN US HALF ASSED SHIT FOR 13+ YEARS.
