DJ Envy has doubled down on his response to his former Breakfast Club co-host Angela Yee claiming to be “the only woman” on the show, while Charlamagne Tha God has decided to stay out of it.
During the Power 105.1 show’s latest “Rumor Report” on Monday (March 6), Charlamagne and DJ Envy spoke a bit more about Yee’s recollection of events, with Envy saying he and Yee recently spoke on the phone.

“Well, I will say this: what she said wasn’t true,” Envy said. “I can’t tell her how she can feel about being on this show, because on this show she’s correct it’s me, Charlamagne and herself, so yeah she was the only woman in the room, but when it came to producers, there are so many different women that worked up here and that continue to work up here.”
Envy added: “So I didn’t like the way they put that The Breakfast Club doesn’t have women here or doesn’t respect women’s views because that’s not true.”

Envy then shouted out one of the aforementioned producers named Taylor Hayes, with Charlamagne briefly chiming in to tell Taylor the new intro to the Rumor Report was “fire.”
“There’s a bunch of women that’s been working here,” Envy continued. “I did speak to Yee last night. Me and Yee got on the phone last night and she understood what I was saying, and she said that she meant in the room, meaning the people that actually worked in the room, but that’s not what that clip said and that’s not what went out and that’s what I was upset about.”

Elsewhere he said the women who work on The Breakfast Club have continued to push Envy and Charlemagne “to the next level.”
“Charlamagne and I always talk about how important having women in our lives, especially Black women in our lives, you know Charlamagne talks about his wife as the CEO of his house, I talk about my wife as the CEO of my house. I just took that as a way, but we spoke about it today and I guess she’s gonna clear it up on her show today.”
Charlamagne simply chimed in and said he had “nothing” to add.
Yee had previously responded to Envy’s denial on Twitter on March 5, and said she had no idea her comments would cause such an uproar, especially amongst her former co-hosts.
“Usually I don’t comment or go back and forth with people but there’s too much spinning. ‘In the room’ referred to the people in the studio: the producer, board op, videographer and hosts. Yes they are men. That doesn’t mean that there aren’t amazing women who are execs, salespeople, interns, and in other departments.”
She continued: “I’ve said this on many occasions: that it can be hard when your viewpoint is different based on your experience. I didn’t anticipate that this would cause such a firestorm. Everyone texting me ‘are you ok’ (which I appreciate!) and I know I don’t normally take the time to overexplain because it drags things out even more but that’s all.”
DJ Envy wasn’t the only one who felt like Angela Yee’s recollection was false. Lil Mama — whose own headline-making appearance on The Breakfast Club was mentioned by Tamron Hall as an example of misogyny on the show — commented on The Shade Room‘s repost of the interview.
“Oh PLEASE,” Lil Mama wrote. “She was up there playing foul games too. She has helped make multiple women (of color especially) feel like the only woman in that room numerous times. #RockThrowingHandHidingBitch”

Angela Yee departed from the popular radio show last December. Months prior, Angela Yee had alluded to her departure tweeting, “The breakfast club as you know it is officially over” followed by a heart-shaped hands emoji.
Her tweet made The Breakfast Club a trending topic on Twitter, with fans sharing their favorite moments from throughout the show’s 12-year history.
The following day, she announced on-air her impending exit from the popular Power 105.1 show, while revealing she would be hosting her very own nationally syndicated daily show on iHeart Radio.
That show, Way Up With AngelaYee, debuted as a syndicated show on various iHeartMedia stations in February.
