Buddy has got fans excited with news that he has a new album coming soon, and that the LP is apparently tied to a renewal of his spirit.
On Wednesday (March 13), the Los Angeles rapper announced on social media that Don’t Forget to Breathe is due to arrive at the end of the month on March 29.

The project shares a title with a short documentary that Buddy released earlier this month. Don’t Forget To Breathe (The Hero’s Journey) captures Buddy’s time at what he calls a “psychedelic retreat” in Sintra, Portugal.
“I had a chance to tap into my inner child and set some new intentions for my adult life. It was all centered around the breath,” he explains in the film. “I like to call it, ‘The Hero’s Journey.'”

The doc shows Buddy going through a number of programs including voice work and activation, hatha yoga, and a “rebirthing session.” “I didn’t realize I was breathing incorrectly this whole time,” the rapper says at one point.
He also explains in the clip that: “I was on a downward spiral… I’m trying to reset so I can fly high and not crash and burn.”

While Buddy has not yet released a tracklist for his upcoming project, the documentary includes a snippet of his previously-released single “You 2 Thank,” which came out last December. He has released two other songs recently — “Free My Mind” back in October and last month’s “Like This.”
Buddy’s last album was 2022’s Superghetto, which in turn came almost four years after his debut.

Ahead of its March 2022 release, the Compton rapper took to Instagram to share the tracklist for the project, which consists of 10 songs with appearances from T-Pain, Ari Lennox, Blxst and Tinashe.
“Damn y’all did it,” Buddy wrote in the caption. “Tracklist unlocked!! A little more than 24hrs until #Superghetto releases. Tell me your favorite feature.”
During an Apple Music interview the previous month, Buddy talked about the direction of Superghetto and the meaning behind the album title.
“It’s more about the essence of growing up in the hood, you feel me?” he explained. “I’m from there so it’s in me, it ain’t on me, and I take it everywhere I go, and that’s all around the world. Everybody else has to really just conform to the energy that I’m bringing to the table and making adjustments and really come into the vibe that I’m presenting.”

He continued, “That’s what the album sounds like. My experience, from my perspective and the way I want it to the sound, the beat selection. It’s a bunch of different flows and cadences.”
