Music Map Shows Jay Z Is The USA’s Favorite Artist Based on Streaming

A new map, created by Music Machinery color codes the United States of America to show each state’s favorite artist.

The map uses streaming data compiled by The Echo Nest

Hip Hop artists appear to be very popular in the U.S.A., since a majority of the states have been shaded colors to represent different artists within the genre.

The map resembles the electoral college map, which is normally used during the Presidential election.

Jay Z is the artist of choice for 22 of the 50 states. Hov has a majority of the northeast region, including the Tri-State area, the carolinas and Florida.

Drake‘s music appears to be streamed the most in the south. According to The Echo Nest, states such as Texas, Louisiana , Oklahoma and Arizona listen to the Canadian-bred rapper more than any other artist.

Macklemore & Ryan Lewis are the most popular in their home state of Washington, Hawaii and in a majority of the Midwest region.

Eminem won over three states: North Dakota, West Virginia and Alaska.

Lorde, Daft Punk and Imagine Dragons are also included on the graph.
