Keith Murray was experiencing a low point recently, and a fan who recorded it has been condemned for capturing it on camera.

A TikTok user named @MadelineCLopez1 posted a clip of the Def Squad MC on Saturday (March 23), though the video has since been deleted from her account.

In the video, Murray can be seen stood outside of what appears to be a motel and looking bedraggled as the woman films him.

When the rapper pleads with Lopez not to film him, she justifies her decision by saying: “Because you’re famous!”

The woman then asks Murray if he wants money, to which he replies: “Yes.” She then offers to give him $20 if he “raps something” for her, although he ignores her request and again asks her to stop filming.

The footage later made the rounds on X (formerly Twitter), leading to Lopez facing widespread backlash for both speaking to Keith Murray in a degrading manner and recording him in a vulnerable state against his will.

“Can we talk about Keith Murray for a minute? I’m more pissed off at the woman recording. It’s hard to see him this way. One of the greatest MCs of our time,” one user said.

Hot 97 radio personality Peter Rosenberg also condemned Lopez, writing: “The woman who posted Keith Murray video is literally why the internet is horrible …what a disgusting thing to do … shameful.”

“People are so quick to record someone at their lowest. That’s a nasty bitch who recorded Keith Murray smh,” someone else wrote.

Others expressed support and sympathy for Murray, with one comment reading: “I couldn’t even finish the Keith Murray video. If that was some white pop star, the public outcry would be deafening.

“I hope he gets the help he needs. It’s sad to see a hip hop legend this way and even sadder that someone would exploit him.”

Unfortunately, this isn’t the first time that Keith Murray has been filmed at a low point. Last year, a video surfaced of the 49-year-old behaving erratically in traffic while seemingly on drugs.

The disturbing footage prompted Lord Jamar to put aside his long-standing differences with Murray and express concern for his former rival.

“Our brother @keithmurrayrap obviously needs serious help,” he wrote on Instagram. “I don’t have to see this man do drugs in front of me to know he’s on drugs.

“Dude crossed a line with me, that I believe if he wasn’t on drugs he wouldn’t have crossed, so I forgive him. We need to get our brother clean, cause this is a horrible look.”

Murray later addressed the footage and claimed it was an attempt to tarnish his legacy.

“Somebody got some footage of me, and they tried to assassinate my character,” he said on the MReckNRip Show. “But at the same time, they should’ve played it after BET — made it seem like it was current or something, because BET was spectacular. I’m getting a lot of positive feedback.”

He continued: “It was before. Some footage that some people that I don’t know got old footage and tried to bring it out, but God is on my side and I don’t really talk about negativity. Why didn’t they post my BET performance? Whoever those people were. Why didn’t Lord Jamar talk about how gracefully I rocked the stage?

“Black people always try to bring Black people down when they doing good. The devil always come and try to tear you down when God got a blessing for you. So, I ask Lord Jamar and whoever that other person was, to highlight my show at the BET awards. It went worldwide!”
