E.C. Illa was one of many to offer their condolences on social media following news of Payroll’s death. In a message shared on Facebook on Tuesday (September 12), he praised Payroll and spoke on the bond they shared.

“This dude here was the realest,” E.C. Illa wrote. “Uptown makes for a tough upbringing and we bonded over our will to push forward and show the world what we had to offer.”

Payroll was also one of few to have taken their feud with Kanye West to wax. Following a spat with ‘Ye over Jay-Z’s “Neva Change” instrumental, Payroll responded with the aptly titled “Fuck Kanye West.”
