Social media, a land of hot takes (read: bad opinions), have ordained Quavo the “Beyoncé of Migos.” And like Mrs. Knowles-Carter, many say he should go solo. While yours truly doesn’t agree, those who do will salivate over his new track “Paper Over Here,” highlighted in the Wednesday (May 10) version of the DX Digest. Below you’ll also find new heat from Little Simz, Shabazz Palaces, Lil Durk, Kent Jones, P-LO and G-Eazy, and Runway Richy with a guest spot from Gucci Mane.

Quavo – “Paper over here”

Who knew Quavo was a Craig Mack fan? The de facto Migos frontman flies solo on a new track titled “Paper Over Here,” featuring an interpolation of the former Bad Boy artist’s “Flava In Ya Ear” chorus. Not sure if this song is an eloquent troll, given how adamant fans have been requesting that Quavo would be better off without his partners-in-rhyme.

Little Simz  – “Backseat”

Potent rhymes have never been an issue for UK MC Little Simz, who delivers “Backseat,” an introspective track about the loneliness of tour life and the growing pains she’s experiencing during this transformative period in her life. But in a true point of honesty, she admits, “This is what you signed up for.”

Kent Jones – “Counting Stars”

We The Best artist Kent Jones has a left-of-center way of writing songs that also happens to be very palatable for casual listeners. His latest track, “Counting Stars,” isn’t anything extremely complicated, but we dare you to sit still when this plays in the function.

Shabazz Palaces – “30 Clip extension”

Your auntie’s favorite maraca couldn’t shake things up the way Shabazz Palaces’ sworn promise to deliver two albums in 2017 did. With Quazarz: Born on a Gangster Star due out July 14 and the sequel, Quazarz vs. The Jealous Machines, set to arrive the same day, we received the duo’s new track “30 Clip Extension.” Per usual, Palaceer Lazaro provides some lyrical gymnastics as he has some snarky mimicry for “your favorite rapper.” Press play to connect the dots.

P-Lo f. G-Eazy – “Feel Good”

HBK Gang’s P-Lo is prepping his More Than Anything project for a forthcoming release. Hopefully, his new G-Eazy-assisted track “Feel Good” is an indication of what’s to come. The Bay Area natives trade verses about their exploits with women over pounding production.

Lil Durk – “Pressure”

Lil Durk’sLove Songs For The Streets project is just two months old, but that didn’t stop him from offering new work with “Pressure.” He proudly proclaims, “I’m single, so don’t call me about females,” as an affirmation of his relationship status. Outside of that line, we see the Chicago rapper in a very familiar pocket here.

Runway Richy f. Gucci Mane – “Switching Sides”

Atlanta spawns new rappers like some non-eco-friendly trap factory. Rising artist Runway Richy receives a dream co-sign in the form of a guest verse from Gucci Mane on “Switching Sides.” This song is reserved for the snakes in the grass – whether friend or foe – who pray on your downfall. You know, typical rapper problems.
