You don’t have to be a film buff to have caught the iconic shower scene from Alfred Hitchcock’s 1960 horror classic Pyscho. You know, this one:

It’s the scene where Marion Crane is brutally stabbed to death in the shower by (*spoiler alert*) Norman Bates, after letting out one of the finest Hollywood screams ever recorded.

Currently, Rihanna is guest-starring in A&E’s TV series Bates Motel, which serves as a prequel to the Hitchcock movie. Riri won the role of Marion Crane, and last night was her first time hopping into a Bates Motel shower (which is, historically, not a safe place to be).

So this is the part where we warn you about spoilers, in case you’ve been getting really into Bates Motel but missed it last night: look away now and read about the cast of Fresh Prince reuniting instead.

Just like in the original, the sense that something sinister is about to happen builds up. The music gets a little more dramatic and the camera slowly closes in on Rihanna’s Marion … only for this new-fangled Crane to yank back the shower curtain and announce “Screw this shit.”

If only the 1960’s version had been so quick-thinking.

Watch the scene above.
