50 Cent’s rough upbringing in NYC’s South Jamaica, Queens has been well-documented — nine gunshots and all. And it’s also no secret that Hip Hop has treated him well. While the exact dollar amount of his net worth has been subject to debate (depending on who’s doing the suing in court), he remains among the top of the culture’s wealthiest figures and everyone in his immediate circle undoubtedly benefits from it.

Sometimes, it takes remembering where you’ve been to get to where you need to be and the G-Unit head honcho recently took to Instagram and suited up in protective headgear and boxing gloves with his adoptive “son,” Davian. And this particular sparring session wasn’t exactly on the playful level. (“Getting my young bull ready,” was 50’s exact caption.)

At one point in time, 50 was seen catching Davian with a jab that knocked his head against the wall, resulting in him taking a timeout on a nearby chair. In a subsequent clip, 50 wrote, “He get mad then he start coming” — evidence that his “tough love” parenting sessions were working to his own design.

Instagram user maceo_cashin wrote in the comments, “We need more father’s like u fif @50cent” before hashtagging “#Solid #RealFather” while richie198009 quipped “how u raise a son…that’s more then boxing it’s life lessons…I salute this man for being a real father …@@50cent,” which was followed by a ton of “100” emojis.
