Washington DC

Chance The Rapper performed at the annual lighting of the White House Christmas tree on Thursday night (December 1), in what one might speculate is one of the final Hip Hop performances that 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue will see for at least a few years.

Chance performed a rendition of “Sunday Candy” alongside a gospel choir and long-time collaborator Nico Segal (formerly Donnie Trumpet).

It certainly seemed like Chance got to enjoy himself once his performance was finished too, as a video has also surfaced of him dancing along to President Obama and Santa Claus closing the night with a pretty solid performance of “Jingle Bells.” Other guests at the event included Kelly Clarkson and folk music legend James Taylor.

Chance’s performance marks the second time that President Obama’s fellow Chicago native has been invited to the White House in just a matter of months. Chance and Frank Ocean had attended Obama’s final state dinner in November.

Given that Chance performed at a Hillary Clinton rally and later led thousands of Chicagoans to the polls in order to vote, we somehow doubt that Donald Trump will be quite as forthcoming.
