The music industry loses another icon in 2016 as Sharon Jones passed away yesterday (November 18) at the age of 60 after a battle with pancreatic cancer.

The news comes via a press release that says the soul singer was surrounded by her loved ones, including her band the Dap-Kings, at the time of her death.

Jones made her mark on the funk and soul worlds through her solo work and projects with the Dap-Kings. The “Dap-Dip” was sampled on Rhymefest’s “Brand New” featuring Kanye West and Earl Sweatshirt’s song of the same name as well.

HipHopDX sends its condolences to the family and friends of Sharon Jones.
