Walter French recently released his Far From Home album and has insight on numerous topics outside of his own work.
Recently sitting down with HipHopDX News Editor Soren Baker, The Atlanta native spoke about the current hot topic of ghostwriting in Hip Hop.
“I think everyone’s so strict on that because of where it came from. It’s just you,” he said via a segment of today’s DX Daily. “When you’re rapping it’s supposed to be you, where you’re from, who you are in terms of the artist himself. So it’s like if somebody’s writing these things for you with cats are talking about now, it’s not even you. Why you lying?”
Walter French also explained how someone presented with a good song opportunity can still make it their own even if it isn’t their track.
“I think it’s important to write your own lyrics and whatnot but like I said it’s a business and you never know,” he explained. “If a great hook comes up to you, great song comes up to you, you might be like, ‘Let’s do it!’ Add in your own words and it takes more of your input.”
