The RIAA announced today (November 19) that Macklemore and Ryan Lewis’ breakout single, “Thrift Shop” has been certified Diamond.
The song, released in 2012, joins “Radioactive” by Imagine Dragons in selling 10 million units.
“Thrift Shop” has nearly 800,000,000 views on YouTube at the time of publication.
Macklemore and Ryan Lewis also released their “Downtown” single this year. The song, which features Kool Moe Dee, Grandmaster Caz and Melle Mel, has reached gold status, having sold more than 700,000 units to date.
Not aa fan of Mack really, but congrats, that is a monumental accomplishment these daysdays if you aren’t one direction or someone like that. I don’t think Em, Jay, or Kanye have any diamond singles.
I just googled One Direction and Justin Bieber. They don’t have any diamond or 5x platinum singles. Jay’s Niggas in Paris is 5x platinum, Em’s Not Afraid is diamond, Em’s Love the Way You Lie is diamond, Kanye’s Gold Digger is 5x platinum, Kanye’s Stronger is 7x platinum, Kanye’s Heartless is 5x platinum. Peace.
Niggah pleez*fuck gaymores diamond single*where is the classic albums*fucktard*sales don’t mean shit*again fucktard*sales don’t mean shit*long live the 80s & 90s*
actually eminem has 2 diamond selling singles, not afraid and love the way you lie
But yet this is not an article about Eminem…
Congrats to them Doing it INDEPENDENT without a Record Deal! That’s even MORE impressive as they get to keep the $10m profit from one song ($50m overall) & retain all ownership & control! That’s INDIE POWER!
“although Macklemore, in a slightly unusual recording contract, pays a nominal percentage of sales to use Warner Bros. Records’ radio promotion department to push his singles”
if you think they keepin 100% of the profit ur out of your rabbit ass mind
Great!
Em’s “Not Afraid” is diamond.
So what the fuck? Jesus Fucking Christ, somebody does well for themselves and fucking Em stans, whom in my opinion are the fucking worst kind of fans, have to bring him up on any kind of shit. Go fuck him already.
I thought album’s name was thrift shop and i was like whaaaa damn
Perfect example how music is nothing but filth now
