Weeks after Jay Electronica declared himself “the god of Hip Hop,” and called out both Drake and J. Cole, radio host Charlamagne Tha God has offered his thoughts on the New Orleans, Louisiana musician’s comments.

According to Charlamagne, Jay Elec’s comments would have held more weight if the rapper was “more active” and “dropping more music.” He went on to explain that Electronica doesn’t have the catalog to call out artists like Cole or Drake.

“I would respect it if Jay Electronica was more active,” Charlamagne said during an interview with Vlad TV. “I would respect it if Jay Electronica was dropping more music. I would respect it if Jay Electronica was out here competing more. Being that he’s not it seems like a reach. It seems like a cry for attention. And I love Jay Electronica. Peace to the god. But I just feel like if you gonna call out J. Cole and Drake, two guys that are active, you gotta have something to back that up. Truthfully speaking, Jay Electronica don’t have the resume or the catalog to back that up against either guy…What are you calling ‘em out for? How you gonna back it up? You don’t put out music.”

The Breakfast Club co-host went on to compare Jay Electronica to a fighter who’s shown promise, before declaring Cole, Drake, and Kendrick “the undisputed three” when it concerns the new generation of rap artists.

“He’s like a fighter who’s shown a lot of promise,” he said. “The couple of fights he has had, he’s knocked mothafuckas out. But where is the resume, bro? We need more catalog from you for you to be calling out those guys. Cause truthfully speaking, J. Cole, Kendrick Lamar, Drake, those are the guys right now…That is the undisputed three.”

During a performance at London’s XOYO Club in August, Jay Electronica took a subliminal jab at Drake when he stated, “Jay Electronica is The God of Hip Hop. You might be the 6 God, but I am The God.”

He took a more direct approach with his comments about J. Cole.

“I’m sorry, but J. Cole ain’t got bars like this. I’m sorry, whoever your favorite rapper is, they all know that I’m The God,” Jay Electronica said.
