Remy Ma was released from prison one year ago. After spending six years in New York’s Bedford Hills Correctional Facility For Women, Remy Ma was freed on August 1, 2014.

She took to Instagram yesterday (August 1) to share her thoughts.

“At this moment 1 year ago I was sitting in a cell wondering when I was coming home,” she writes under a repost of her selfie at home after being released. “I had actually gave up hoping that it would even happen. I was supposed to be released July 31, 2014 & I had woke up on August 1, 2014 STILL in prison; I was devastated. Yet, by the grace of my merciful God, I was able to awake the next day at home, in my bed, and post my 1st selfie. At this moment I was so happy but still in shock that I was actually ‘free’.”
