Boosie Badazz has reflected on an interaction with Young Dolph that inspired the late Memphis rapper to pursue Hip Hop seriously.
The “Wipe Me Down” rapper took to his Instagram Live on Monday (February 5) to once again share the story with his fans. According to the 41-year-old, Flippa pulled up to sell him some marijuana back in the early aughts and was subsequently inspired to rap when he saw that the Baton Rouge native was his customer.

“[Young Dolph] said that after he sold me that weed, man, that n-gga got there from rappin’? I’m fixin’ to rap,” he shared. “That was 2006. I inspired a lot of muthafuckas. A lot of muthafuckas. I just don’t like to give me my flowers. You gotta be a real n-gga to give me my flowers.”

Before his murder, Young Dolph himself admitted that Boosie Badazz inspired him to rap, although he told a slightly different story about how they met. According to the late MC, he met Boosie through “his partner.” and the two simply enjoyed smoking weed together. Still, the Louisiana MC’s affluent lifestyle served as an inspiration for his soon-to-be peer to pursue Hip Hop.
Earlier this week, Dolph’s accused killer, Justin Johnson, asked the judge in his murder trial to consider selecting potential jurors from outside of Memphis.
The Associated Press confirmed that Luke Evans filed a petition with Judge Jennifer J. Mitchell, stating that he is concerned about what he calls the “relentless media coverage” surrounding the killing, which might taint the jury pool.
“The victim in the case is beloved here,” Evans said while claiming that Dolph’s fans have allegedly threatened Johnson and his co-defendant, Cornelius Smith, with “lynching” and being killed in prison. He feels that these calls for violence are “seeking vengeance, not justice.”

Prosecutors, on the other hand, countered that the 2010 slaying of former University of Memphis and Memphis Grizzlies player Lorenzen Wright still had an impartial jury and deemed Evans’ filing unnecessary.
Mitchell has not yet made a ruling on the matter.
Justin Johnson, his brother Jermarcus Johnson, Hernandez Govan (who allegedly ordered the hit on Young Dolph) and a fourth man named Cornelius Smith have all been charged in Dolph’s murder.
