Pharrell (and his hat) performs his Oscar-nominated original song, "Happy," at the 86th Academy Awards.

The Oscars chose Pharrell to perform the first dong of the night and he definitely lit up the stage. It's almost impossible to listen to his smash hit Happy and not feel some type of way and want to do the "Carlton Dance." The single is off the "Despicable Me 2" soundtrack and appears on his sophomore album G I R Lwhich dropped today. He was joined on stage high school choir, a bunch of dancers and even Jamie Foxx and his daughter.

With Pharrell dropping his highly anticipated album G I R LHipHopDX spoke with him exclusively about the direction of his music and a search to restore music's human element. Check it out here.
