BioShock
When this game was first shown at last years E3 (the annual Electronic Entertainment Expo), gamers were floored by the sick graphics and disturbing gameplay. A year later, we finally get the game and also understand what the hell we’re supposed to be doing. Think of BioShock as Lost mashed up with Doom’s first-person shooter gameplay, a hint of Resident Evil’s survival horror creepiness and a touch of X-men’s wacky mutant powers. Yeah that’s the best way to describe it.
The story begins like every white horror movie. This dude crash lands in the middle of the ocean and seeking some place to survive and hold up till rescue (Lost anyone?) he ends up in this underwater world and in the middle of some civil war he ain’t got no business getting involved in. Of course if he didn’t, we’d have nothing to do.
Besides surviving and finding a way out alive, BioShock throws a ton of tasks between saving someone new who always pops up, random tasks to prevent the cities destruction or advance to possible escape and of course the boss battles with the badass big daddy. You thought Zelda had impossible fights, things don’t go down easy and you’ll actually need some strategy and skills to win.
Thankfully 2K got you decked out with some of the illest weapons and powers. Besides the standard electricity and fire powers, you also get a dope as cyclone ability that’ll leave behind a mini-tornado for your enemies to walk into and some sick motion bombs and heat-seeking-esque projectiles.
But thankfully the difficulty isn’t that hard and definitely not short. As story advances and powers expand, there are multiple play throughs. And depending on sells, we’ll be blessed with a sequel.
