I Love New York: 12-Pack

March 12th, 2007 | Author: Kevin Clark

Dave Amerman is a funny guy. The New Jersey native appeared on I Love New York and constantly got laughs for being the chain smoking, always drunk, muscle bound dude. He ended up having one antic too many, when the brash New York over heard the young actor-in-training’s dreams.

Although his stay on VH-1 and I Love New York ended with him being in the “final five,” the man known as 12-Pack sits down with HHDX with a lot more to offer. In this interview, 12-Pack discusses his Hollywood aspirations, dishes the goods on his friendship with the other cast mates and explains his love for New York.

HHDX: Hey, what’s up, 12-Pack?
DA:
Nothing much, man. What’s up with you?

HHDX: I’m good, man, thanks. When the show started to get deeper, it became apparent that you were heavily favored. How did it feel going into the elimination rounds?
DA:
Well, when we first started the show, I wasn’t as confident when we went into elimination. I mean, how I looked at it was that I’m in the house with twenty other guys. You also had to think that White Boy and Tango were like the first to get picked in the beginning, so I thought that I was her type. But things quickly turned around, so then I got more confident. Things begun to turn around, so I was on top for awhile. We all saw how that ended, though [laughs].

HHDX: Did you think that you were going to win the whole thing?
DA: Hell yeah, after I started getting picked first or at least the top three, I thought the whole competition was mines. She was really digging my moves!

HHDX: On Monday’s episode, New York overheard you talking about how “famous” you’d be after the show was over. So, have you been hitting the casting couches hard since your elimination?
DA:
Right now, we’re in contract with VH-1 so, I can’t really go into all that. I haven’t really been doing all that, yet, but I really will be once that’s completed. I’ll be trying to do my own thing. This isn’t the last that you’ve seen of me, yet… best believe!

HHDX: She kind of threw out that she knew what you had said once you were eliminated.
DA:
It was pretty obvious that I would never date her, though. I thought she wasn’t good looking at first. She was better looking in person, though, I will admit that. But I could definitely do without being with her as the prize.

HHDX: You’ve had some antics while being on the show. How drunk did you guys get while being on the show?
DA: Man, we drank everyday. Our tolerance got super strong while being on the show. Dude, I was drinking 15-20 times a day.

HHDX: How’d you do that?
DA: It was something that I discovered after the first or second night of being on the show. I found out that I do my best work when I’m drunk. So, when I saw it on TV, I’m laughing my ass off. You don’t realize that you have haters until you see the show. It was hilarious to me to hear people say that I’m gay; down right funny as hell.

HHDX: So, are you gay?
DA:
Man, I’ll put it straight out there… I’m not gay. I’m not in one way possible gay. My last employment is nothing. My ex-girl came to the house! She was fuckin’ hot; blonde and I did her when I got home. People hated on me though.

HHDX: But her family was questioning your sexuality, too…
DA:
They hated me. I did their daughter for a year, so… of course that would piss them off. I also do theater, which was, for them, a red flag. But I want to learn how to act. I’m more so a television guy, so you’re not going to see the last of me.

HHDX: What type of show would you want to do?
DA: I wouldn’t mind doing a show with the rest of the cast. Nothing is in the works, right now, due to the contract with VH-1. But it’s going to happen. I’ll get my own show. You’ve seen me, already, I’m funny as all hell.

HHDX: When I spoke with Onix, you guys were hanging out in New York. What have you all been doing since your elimination?
DA:
Right now, I’m doing the Party Boyz tour. It’s me and Heat and we go around just performing. Actually, we just came back from doing a show. It was us, Akon, J. Xavier and a whole bunch of others. It was great! We did the whole [drunk dancing] scene again in front of 4,000 people. Coming up, we got two gigs in New York. Then we’re going back to Texas and then Boston. It’s great. I make a great amount of money doing what I’m doing.

HHDX: What made you want to be on the show?
DA:
Realistically, I wasn’t even going to do the show. You know that VH-1 airs a reality show. It’s on everyday of the week, you know? But the guys from LA cornered me and I decided to take them up on the opportunity. Business-wise, this is a plus. Anything I want to merchandize, I have the exposure and the recognition to be able to put it out there. People will catch onto it. They’ll come to me and they’ll be there with a show and it’ll be a beautiful thing.

HHDX: What about that workout DVD, you and Onix were working on?
DA:
Right now, it’s on the backburner. Doing DVDs are great and all that, but I want to make a living. That’s definitely something that’s going to come out, but only after I have done the other things first.

HHDX: Well, since your stay on the show is over, what’s next for 12-Pack?
DA:
The Party Boyz tour is up now. I’ll eventually be moving out to LA to get into acting. That’s what’s coming up in the near future. We’re making a good salary doing what we’re doing. At the rate that we’ve been doing, it’s very lucrative… that is until something better comes along.
