Lupe Fiasco is grinding like Clipse. The Chicago emcee is preparing for the release of his upcoming mixtape, Lost in the Atlantic Ocean, and album, Testuo & Youth. Carrera Lu has been steady dropping new tunes at a weekly rate for more than a month now. Within the past two weeks, the FNF frontman has released three cuts presumably to be included on the mixtape, with “Haile Selassie” and “Lilies.” Lupe’s work and style have long been heavily influenced by Japanese culture—i.e. Japanese Cartoon. “Mazinger” is the latest demonstration, taking both its name and samples from the Japanase manga and anime series. Incorporating heavy portions of dialogue reminiscent of so many classic Wu-Tang joints, just under half of the total track is Lupe-less. That said, Lupe barely takes a breath as he lays waste to this soulful production by S-X, Migos-ing some magnificent wordplay for three full minutes:

“Like Monica sucking and bust on her clothes / Dishonoring Monica, was it for? / Monitor Monica, what does she know? / Finding the evidence, answer the questions / Did you and the President fuck on the low?”

Yes, Lu actually went there! Look out for Lost in the Atlantic Ocean soon and Testuo & Youth on January 20, 2015.
