One of Oakland’s rising star’s, Glam, dropped her mixtape The Feel, January 22nd. You might remember her from the A$AP Rocky, Bun B, and Vic Mensa “RapFix” Freestyle back in November, but she’s back with a new song off of the mixtape. In the track, “Feel,” Glam shows off her lyrical and producing skills, also producing every track on the mixtape.

DX got the chance to talk with Glam briefly and ask a few questions:

DX: When did you fall in love with hip hop?

Glam: I fell in love with hip hop when my mom bought this mix cd from those guys who go door to door at salons/barbershops etc. He had a lot of mixes but his hip hop one was so on point, subconsciously taught me everything I was gonna be doing. I was in the 6th grade, living in the Bay at the time.

DX: Who are your musical inspirations?

Glam: Erykah Badu, Kanye, Pharrell and a majority of 90’s hip hop/r&b artists.

DX: The inspiration behind The Feel?

Glam: The Feel is my 3rd mixtape, but it felt like my first real entrance into the game and I wanted people to really “feel” my topics, my delivery, melodies, rhythms, etcs. Acting as a reminder of what I feel good music is, not to say there is none, but something we need more of.

Fellow Oakland notable Sway even endorsed her via twitter and Instagram:

You can download Glam’s mixtape on livemixtapes now, as well check out her track here.
