    1. kanye west is dropping some good stuff. getting a buzz 4 the album. nice 2 c him rolling with the likes of pete rock, who also used this sample on one of the greatest albums ever mecca and the soul brother. bet pete rock co-produced this with kanye!!!!! fire

    2. ye has got so much respect back from me ddropping nice tracks and real tracks with meaning!!

NOV 22 IM COPPING LLOYD BANKS HFM2 AND YE

      1. seriously Ye bodied this track.

ppl forget Ye can be very introspective, always has been. its just he like to do the flashy shit too.

Ye is taking over for 2010.

    3. you still leaking shit kanye?
you haven’t learned anything yet have you?

but fuck that is that pic of pam greir in the backround?

      1. Eeeeee! Pete Rock da reason why Good Friday a little more down to earth. This shit is heavy, Beat is heavy. But you can thank curtis mayfield for this one, – “the makings of you”.

    4. I wish Kanye was just as soulful as the song. He sayin anything….Jay not far off from him. Was Kid cudi high on this track? I just don’t get him for the most part I guess.

    5. Kanye took us back with this one. This is my shit right were.

Kepp putting out that heat and shitting on the haters Kanye.

    6. Kanye took us back with this one. This is my shit right were.

Keep putting out that hot shit and shitting on these haters Kanye.

    7. amazing pete rock and kanye with curtis mayfield how can you hate on this? kanyes album is gonna be amazing even with the good friday leaks hes added features and probably added drums to beats so the good friday songs will be even better, look at college dropout for example he leaked alot of it and it turned out being one of the best rap albums this decade you cant hate on kanye

      1. Yeee, I agree. I think his focus for the album wasn’t to have this type of soulful mellow shit, I think he wanted to go more for that emotional 808 doo doo

    8. Cudi is whack.
Ye and Jay sound like MF Doom.
      Lyrics wandering all over.
But they dont have his vocab at all.
Pete Rock is the man though.

    9. Kanye’s soulful side is still alive, and it came out on this right here. He stepping his lyrics up, and he kilt both verses. Ye kilt him again, but Hov did his thing too. The Curtis Mayfield sample, dope. Real rap. Pete rock really wanted to make sure we knew that it was “kanye…pete rock…1,2 though lol”. And the pic of Pam Greir’s titties doesn’t hurt either

    10. Its the year of Kanye. On e of the only dudes that can be hated for his exploits but be loved for his music. Legendary status.

    11. Alot of songs sound under produced.
Wu-tang made famous rhyming over old soul samples straight no chaser, particularly Ghostface.
Good thing it’s for free. Shot out for C.Mayfield for making the original. The original is the isht, this is a shell.

    12. This maybe kanye’s best since college drop out. If he had stayed like this yeah he wouldn’t be as successful but c’mon man this shit is where it’s at forget all that kiddy shittttt.

    13. This is worthy of 5 stars just off of the strength of Pete Rock. Kanye and Jay-Z coulda came a bit harder, but eh! It’s still better than most of the stuff thats out.

    14. I’ll give it a 4 for the amazing and smooth beat along with the smooth singing….ye and Jay coulda came harder tho

      1. listen a couple more times. hard rhymes are for hard beats. these verses fit the track perfectly: “this beat deserves hennessy, a bad bitch, and a bag of weed…the holy trinity!” “seeds in the ganja had it poppin like the sample that i’m rhymin’ wit…”

    15. It took NAS a second to work with Pete Rock and it took Jay-Z how fuckin’ long? This track is bananas but I still wanna here Jay-Z go dolo on another fresh Pete Rock beat but this time by himself and quit turning shit down for once in his fuckin’ life and start takin’ hot shit from Pete and Premo…Jay needs to stop frontin’ and take his ass out of that bubbled up Pop World for once in his life…He’s done enough Pop shit already…Now it’s time for him to come home on this next album and get back to the real shit with Pete,Premo,Kanye,9th,Ski,Large Pro,The Alchemist,Q-tip,etc…

    16. Simply amazing flows on this track right here. I think it would have fit the album BUT maybe now it’s on watch the throne. Kanye went back to a more relaxed flow and jay went back to ’96! Pete on the back up makes me laugh out loud “Pete Rock…. Kanye”

    17. Simply amazing flows on this track right here. I think it would have fit the album BUT maybe now it’s on watch the throne. Kanye went back to a more relaxed flow and jay went back to ’96! Pete on the back up makes me laugh out loud “Pete Rock…. Kanye” Yea

    18. THIS SHIT IS FUCKING RIDICULOUS (CLASSIC) AND WHY PEOPLE ALWAYS TALKING ABOUT SOMEBODY SHOULD HAVE CAME HARDER HOW HARD DO YOU WANT THEM TO COME (PAUSE)

      1. Well said Ty. In this world we have people that are doing it, and haters who talk about what they would’ve done…

      1. that couldn’t be further from the truth…thank you for keeping ignorance alive

What is someone like Primo didn’t give these a perfect 5 score…are you going to tell him he doesn’t know anything about hip hop?

    22. Never thought Jay-Z would touch a Boom Bap beat ever again. Oh $hit!! I think I died and gone to Heaven. Jay-Z needs to get back on these beats again. Dude actually sounded like Reasonable Doubt Jay, minus the extremely witty Reasonable Doubt wordplay. But hell, he’s 40 and pushing Billionaire status, guess we gotta take what we can get from him.

    24. Hey a naked Pam Grier, anyway music was hot pete rock and ye did a real fine job in making this a hip hop soulful beat that a lot of old heads and new heads want to bang this in their cars. 5/5.

    25. “Takin’refills of that Plan B pill/ Another shorty that won’t make it to the Family Will/ If I don’t make it, can’t take it hope the family will/”

Yo that 1st Ye verse is like my life story!!! I think we can all agree that this track is classic!

    27. You shouldn’t be aloud to say your record features someone unless that person was really there. Dope song though. The holy trinity line Kanye said was fresh. ‘Hova had a ill verse as expected. Whassup with ‘Hov though, he wouldn’t do a track with Pete Rock until Kanye thought it was cool? Pete Rock had mentioned before that he tried to get up with Jay on a track and couldn’t get a response from him. Jay and Kanye are the new Guru and Solaar. Lemme stop…

    28. ITS ON ITS ON…liked the sample when Masta Killa rapped over it (“Queen”) and like how its stripped down right here. Also might be his best Good Friday cover as well. Ill…sounds like Pete Rock took care of business on the classic punch ins

    29. This track really shouldnt say feat Pete Rock, it should say produced by Pete Rock because this is only a recycled beat that Pete Rock made on the Soul Brother album, if Pete Rock was spittn some kind of flo over the beat then it would be feat Pete Rock..This is Kanye feat Jay Z.. Kanye just tryn to get attention (Feat Pete Rock..ya rite..lol) By the way the actual Pete Rock track is 10times better

      1. for the record, the dumb ass editors for DX wrote feature not kanye. and why you hating on what the fuckin title is? stop trying to be an editor and revising it for everyone. no one cares, just enjoy the music ya douche.

    30. Can’t even lie, the way ‘Ye and Jay-Z did this song was pretty damn good. Though its really just a re-use the beat is pretty damn good, well done. Usually a big skeptic of dude but the song is fucking nice. ‘Ye even raps pretty good on the beat, flows well with it. 5 man, haha fucking 5.

    31. is that REALLY pam greer’s body in the back?!?! God dzaaammn…decent track…prefer illmatic type pete rock beats

    32. Damn this shit is fresh.

      KNow the hunger is etheopian

deserves henessey, a bad bitch and a bag of weed, the holy trinity.

    33. This is one of the illest tracks to be posted on DX this year. The drums pushed the sample perfectly and the outro made it feel like an old Rawkus Records track…

    39. 5/5 THIS IS RAW!! I miss his classic one liners!
“your flows stuck in garbage-mine’s a seamstress having sex with forrest gump..sew fucking retarded” *DEAD*

    40. This is timeless hip-hop music! 5/5 I knew Kanye was gonna back like this on some real hip-hop sh*t when I saw how many ppl started jumping off the bandwagon after ‘808s’. Yeezy haters lookin’ real dumb right now, lol

    41. This shit is classic. Seriously, I just rocked this shit like 6 times in a row. Like some cat on here said, all you need is to sit back with a drink and just nod your head to this joint. Classic!

    42. This beat deserves Hennessy, a bad bitch, and a bag a weed…the holy trinity.

4/5 ‘Ye is on point, as usual, but I wish Hov rhymed like he used to. Pete Rock, let the needle drop…

    43. Dope! If you don’t think so, you probably started listening to hip hop within the last ten years and don’t even know who Pete Rock is.

    44. Yea the “Chocolate Boy Wonder” Aye Frosty grab your yey and get out my way go back to 1990. Beats wack for 2010. Verses are strait. Just wait bout to but South Carolina on the map….

    45. song would of been better with nobody rapping on it….lol not anything against ye or jay but this beat is just too good

    46. Top 5 All Time Greatest

      In no particular order:

      1. Nas (currently the greatest lyricist, but wish he would get better production) consistent and has a large discography

      2. 2pac (great storyteller and passionate work ethic, was very consistent)

      3. Outkast (Andre 3000 is the better lyricist of the two but Big Boi holds his own as well, great catalog of music especially (Aquemini & Atliens)

      4. Rakim (Rap pioneer, open alot of artist eyes on ways to rap.)

      5. Jay-Z (good lyricist, I still think Nas is a little above him lyrically, but he definitely has a better ear for production. Great businessman, very consistent and has a large discography.

      Honarable Mention:

Notorious BIG (great lyricist, but didn’t have near enough material to be considered the greatest. Only 2 albums one classic Ready to Die
Eminem (good lyricist, but he has yet to make a classic album. everyone else in my top 5 has)

      1. My top 5 isn’t like that but you definitely have a credible opinion and insight so I gotta give you a nod on that! Especially since you said Nas is number one which is my number one too! Esco is crazy! I just know that he’s not driven in that mentality to stay “relevant” and he is like his own movement so no matter what he does he will be relevant but he’s not the type to always been in your ear like Wayne and them which sucks because these ADHD kids feel like whoever the best is, is currently out and does a million songs but classics take time so yeah…props on your list bruh…G.O.O.D MUSIC!

    47. Pure Original Hip Hip, Pete Rock is about to reach his prime, I f***in cant wait, Kanye’s on top right now, this is MADD!!!

    48. I just hope that west’s album is as good as all of those mix tapes. Dang! Niggas would be killing to get joints like that in their final LP’s.

    49. Kanye please tell me this song made the album or is at least a bonus on the CD..This joint is an absolute banger my dude!!! Please tell me it made the album someone

    50. this song damn near can go on the baby makin music playlist, gettin high playlist, and the cruisin playlist beat is smooth

    51. Kanye Verse Was Fiya Is It me or everything he be on with Jay He be outshining him. that is if u really listen im sure somebody gone say somethin ignorant like jay got more money tho

      CHI TOWN STAND UP

    52. I love Pete Rock. But it is an insult to put Mayfield’s name on this like he was a feature on the record….keep his name off the title, and in the production credits, under “samples used”

    53. wish this was on MBDTF…..

this could easily replace ‘lost in the world’ or the ‘all of the lights interlude’

and..this is the second week without a good friday track….whats hapnin, i wanna hear mommas boyfriend, the premo version please

‘the joy’ – be good if it was included on Watch the throne (which is going to be an epic album’

    54. … And this, ladies and gentlemen, is why Kanye West is the only mainstream rapper that I listen to on at LEAST a daily basis. What other platinum selling artist in 2010 would even THINK about getting on this beat? There’s a reason it was left of the album: it isn’t marketable. But for those of us who do appreciate old school hip hop, this is a sign of great things to come. Kanye brought back chipmunk soul, then he introduced electronic elements into hip hop. Now, with the influence he has on the genre, maybe he can bring it back to the old school flavor with tracks like these.

And like the commenter below said, I do agree that Curtis Mayfield should not be included as a guest, as he was only sampled.

    55. Yo, I read a comment about Kanye outshining Jay on every track (ahem, Diamonds From Sierra Leone Remix? Put On Remix?). I’m not going to argue that because Yeezy does have some impressive verses — this one included. The difference is, I think Jay melds lyricism, flow, seamless swag and delivery better than anyone out there — ever. It just seems so effortless. Now his verse on this track isn’t going to win a Pulitzer, but he steals the show regardless.
