Since this is nowhere near a regular piece of music, I'm gonna use my creative license too and stray as far from convention as I please, poor format or not. So here is how it went: the album was playing in my stereo at a rather loud volume (17 out of 25), and I was on my computer trying to organize some things. When I was listening to a song, I wrote down water ever popped into my head - no matter what it was and how little sense it makes to you.
"From Left To Right" - industrial noise combined with neck breaking drums and an aura of panic that only heightens as the track proceeds
"Last Walk Around The Mirror Lake" - despite some obtrusive sound effects and hard-hitting drums, it is quite harmonic
"The Unthinkable" - sounds like the soundtrack of a cheesy futuristic movie stuck on fast forward in the VCR with Buck 65's robotic clone muddled in
"Closed Shoulders" - Anyone read Don Delillo's book White Noise? Well, this is like white noise with drums over top.
"First Walk" - This is kind of a head trip, I wonder if these guys were on any hallucinogens when they made this? Shit this is long too, kind of epic.
"Morning And A Day" - t a k e m e t o y o u r l e a d e r
"Awaiting An Accident" - wow
"Third Stream" - household appliances come to life!!! Kind of annoying in some spots, but really dope in others.
"The Use of Unacceptable Colors" - Really dope, that shit at the end sounds like digital wind or something
"In The Tree Top" - One of the best songs on the album, way too short though. They probably could have done a lot more with it
"Pulse All Over" - Incredible stuff, just massive and epic. I feel like I should be out doing something now instead of this.
Oh yeah, Boom Bip is Bryan Hollon and "Corymb" is a compendium LP featuring remixes from Boards of Canada, Venetian Snares, Lali Puna, Mogwai, Four Tet and cLOUDEAD. Genre-bending instrumental music, done very well...
