Last year, Jay-Z promised that his follow-up to the Blueprint 3 would be an experimental project. After this, fans began anticipating his next move. So far, Jay has admitted that he hasn’t truly started full fledged recording for the project, noting that he only has one song done for it. Still, he says, “it’s crazy.”

In a recent interview with MTV, he noted the progress on the as of yet untitled project.

“I didn’t really start yet. I got a couple of scraps and I got a couple of ideas. I didn’t really go into the studio yet. I’ve been toying with ideas and direction and things like that,” he said. “I got one crazy record. To be honest with you, it’s crazy. I got one and we’ll build from there. Whether it comes out this year or next year, it depends on the music and how it’s coming out. I don’t really have any dates.”

He also added that the album may just be inspired by his travels, adding how great it is to see Hip Hop’s growth.

“The world is inspiring me. I get out and see the world and more of the world is accepting of our music and what we do. I’m just inspired by the whole thing and how big Hip Hop can be and how much of a phenomenon it is. You couldn’t imagine Hip Hop being at the World Series. I touched the championship trophy before A-Rod and the Vince Lombardi trophy before the Saints. You couldn’t imagine that happening 10 years ago. How about five years ago? I’m saying that to say that the journey Hip Hop has taken and we are right now, there’s no imitation to it … still. Still!”

Part of his travels have taken him to the Brit Awards, where he was recently honored as Best International Male Solo Artist. Meanwhile, he is still the target of various Beanie Sigel disses back home, with a more recent video below.
