The Nappy Roots Re-Release The Humdinger
The group's latest single "Down ‘N Out," which features R&B artist Anthony Hamilton, was released last week and touches on the situation with Atlantic Records, and how it has affected the group.
Skinny DeVille, the CEO of the label and group member, explains, “The single is reminiscent of the group’s sudden demise at Atlantic Records, label politics, and losing group member R Prophet.” He continued, “Nappy had to take some time off to get back to our roots, we started out independent and that’s where we belong. We’ll never let another situation like what happen to us at Atlantic happen again. We maintain control over our destiny and stay loyal to our fans.”
Although the group is in the middle of starting their own record label, re-releasing The Humdinger, and producing their new album, Pursuit to Nappyness, they have still made time to release a seven-part online mini series titled The Half Truths: The Lost Nappy Roots DVD.
The Pursuit to Nappyness, will be released in 2010, and will mark the group's fourth album.
