One of Hip Hop’s biggest acts has been tapped for the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards, as Jay-Z joins of list of performers including Lady Gaga, Taylor Swift, Green Day, Pink and Muse.

According to MTV News, Jay-Z is up for the Best Hip Hop Video and Best Male Video awards, and will be performing a song from his upcoming album, Blueprint 3.

Gaga, whose hit single “Poker Face” was remixed by Pete Rock, is tied with Beyonce for most VMA nomination with nine.

Presenters at the awards show include Nelly Furtado, Ne-Yo, Katy Perry, and others.

The 2009 MTV Video Music Awards will take place on September 13 at 9:00 PM – two days after the release of Blueprint 3.
