Earlier this week nominee’s for the 7th annual Underground Music Awards were revealed online and the list contains a who’s who of underground music’s most well know Hip Hop artists including Drake, Jean Grae, Charles Hamilton, Immortal Technique, and more.

Categories for the 7th annual awards ceremony include The UMA Male and "Female Artist of the Year," "Indie Album of the Year," "Producer of the Year," "Best Lyricist," "Most Dynamic Rap Group or Duo," and close to 30 other categories.

"It's an honor to be recognized in this years UMA's especially in the category of indie album of the year,” Torae [click to read] shared with HipHopDX. “Marco [Polo] and I put in a lot of work on this LP and it feels great for it to be noticed. The people have already spoken calling Double Barrel [click to read] one of the years best, now put your mouse where your mouth is and vote daily!"

New York rapper Donny Goines [click to watch], who released his sophomore album The Breakfast Club earlier this year, also shared his thoughts on being nominated for an Underground Music Award.

"To be recognized as a nominee at this years Underground Music Awards, especially in the category of ‘Indie Album of the Year’ truly means a lot to me and I am humbled by it,” Donny Goines explained to HipHopDX. “To know that my hard work is appreciated makes it well worth the effort and assures me that its not all in vain. We need things such as this event to boost our moral sometimes and I, for one am very excited to be apart of this years festivities."

Presented by Urban Threshold Enterprises Inc., the Underground Music Awards will take place on August 23 at BB Kings in New York City.
