The Roots Hold Next Album Until October
The drummer, producer and deejay said, "The Roots will announce that WE are pushing back our 11th project How I Got Over (Def Jam/Universal) until Oct. It shall be worth the wait. I'd like to announce in a well thought out effort to give you people the best product possible---and to give Def Jam proper set up time."
In the busy year since, they have become the house band for Jimmy Fallon's latenight television program, still performing monthly New York jam sessions and spot dates. This last weekend, the group, including emcee Black Thought, backed Public Enemy [click to read], as the legendary Hip Hop group performed It Takes A Nation Of Millions To Hold Us Back, their seminal 1989 album. The performance was in Philadelphia, in conjunction with the annual OkayPlayer picnic. The Antibalas also assisted with the brass and percussion, and Beanie Sigel and DJ Cash Money made a brief appearance during the sequential set.
