"The combination of such formidable talent in front of and behind the camera will turn this wonderful gothic story into a modern classic for a whole new generation," Roeg told Variety.

No finalized date has been set for the film's release.

In somewhat related news, 50 has also collaborated with Hollywood icon Bette Midler. In a recent conversation with E!, Midler praised Fif on his work with her enviornmental group, The New York Restoration Project. The two worked together on a public garden in Jamaica, Queens.

"He never asked how much," she told E! of his willingness to help. "He just said, Where do I sign?"

Expect more from Midler and 50. The two will be on hand to celebrate The New York Restoration Project's eighth annual spring picnic on May 19. The event, which will take place in New York's Fort Tryon Park, may also host guests like Dolly Parton and more.

Can a musical partnership come from this? Midler added that she is not opposed to it.

"I was hoping we'd sing songs from the Depression, but he's so young that I don't think he knows any of them. I'm going to have to check things out and see what he feels like singing."
