Nas And Kelis To Divorce
Rapper Nas and singer Kelis are headed for a divorce after less than six years of marriage.
“I can confirm that she has filed for divorce,” said a spokesperson for Kelis to VIBE magazine. “We request the media to respect her privacy during this very difficult time.”
Attorney Laura Wasser filed a divorce upon Kelis' behalf, citing irreconcilable differences. This is despite the fact that the couple are expecting a son together.
It was noted in her divorce papers that Kelis, who is seven months pregnant, is due to deliver the child on July 21. "Yeah, man, I find out what it's gonna be next week, so I'm happy," said Nas to MTV News in February about having a child with the singer.
The two artists met in 2002 at an MTV Video Music Awards afterparty thrown by Sean "Diddy" Combs. After dating for almost two years, the two tied the knot in a small ceremony on July 28, 2003.
