DX News Bits: C-Murder, Danger Mouse
During a press conference on Tuesday, C-Murder [click to read] and friend Reverend Toris Young announced plans to help curb violence in Louisiana. The initiative would include anti-crime rallies, the development of recreation programs, and motivating internship opportunities for the youth.
“My heart goes out to all the victims of violence,” he said to reporters from the front door of his grandmother’s home. “I stand before you today a new man that’s ready, willing, able to do everything in my power to bring an end to these senseless murders.”
The New Orleans rapper and Tru member, whose real name is Corey Miller, is currently on house arrest at his grandmother’s home, awaiting trail for murder. In 2002, he was charged with second-degree murder for his involvement in the fatal beating and shooting of a 16 year-old boy. Miller has aligned himself with Reverend Young, who has, in the past, been convicted of identity theft and fraud.
Although reporters questioned Miller’s motives for initiating an anti-violence campaign, the rapper assured that this was strictly for the kids.
“Get it right, this movement is not about Corey Miller or any other person,” he said. “It’s all about our kids, our future, and our safety.”
Miller refused to answer any questions.
In other news, Danger Mouse is prepping to drop an album with electronic rock group Sparklehorse. As one half of the alternative soul duo Gnarls Barkley, Danger Mouse is known for his work on The Beatles and Jay-Z mash-up The Grey Album, and his eccentric collaboration choices.
Titled Dark Night Of Soul, the collaboration will feature Iggy Pop, Suzanne Vega, Black Francis, and many others. The album is slated for release this summer.
