Fans of Rick Ross‘ music have heard of Zoe Pound, mentioned in lyrics and liner notes. The collective of Hatian nationalists has been deemed a “street gang” by some, but the organization is known for its sects in South Florida as well as the Tropics.

Rapper Redd Eyezz will prove to be instrumental in telling Zoe Pound‘s actual story to the people. Signed to Strictly Business / Asylum Records, the Miami-based artist has previously appeared on A&E‘s Gang Land and Miami Vice, playing himself.

With these existing spots in the media, Redd was asked if his associations can be perceived as a positive in the entertainment industry. “I’ve been turning [the negative portrayals] into a positive, you know?Redd Eyezz told HipHopDX Thursday afternoon. “I’ve been doing things to turn it that way, from doing things in the community, and doing things that are not just involved with Rap. You know, I was giving away bikes a few years ago to [less fortunate] kids. But that being so, I don’t even look for media attention to it. I can’t sit here and say I was an angel in life…but at the same time, you know, I’ve done other things [than the media says].

Presently, the rapper is getting enough attention from his Mannie Fresh-produced single “Boom.”

He spoke of his music. “I’m definitely trying to be very successful with this project. I ain’t trying to miss, I’m trying to knock it out the ball park. So, for me, it’s all about getting the awareness up and the anticipation up, and when it’s at that point, you know what I’m saying, [then every person] that’ll be in your hood, your block, your suburban neighborhood, or your whip, somewhere in the club, you know what I mean, it’s going to be everywhere.

Although “Boom” is confirmed for the album, it is not yet decided if other work, including a mixtape buzz single with Lil Wayne, will make the third quarter realease called Business, Never Personal.

That title, along with Redd Eyezz‘ label, may be reminiscent of EPMD themes, but the Zoe Pound member says it means something else to him. “[Business, never personal is] where I’m at in life right now. I’ve been through a lot, and I lost a lot of friends, and I’ve made some around the way. I’ve come to learn that, this is with business, there are moves that have to be made, you know what I’m saying? I’ve come to realize that certain moves are crucial, like chess, certain moves you’ve gotta make, and you know, somebody might get hurt by it, but hey, it’s nothing personal, it’s just business. Everything that I’m doing right now is just all about business, you know what I’m saying? Either you line up and roll with me, or you get rolled over.
