Famed for his membership in Strong Arm Steady, Los Angeles emcee Phil Da Agony is stepping out as one of Hip Hop's first outwardly environmental artists. Phil's upcoming solo sophmore release, Think Green, could be easily mistaken as just a campaign for marijuana usage, however, the eco-friendly release is actually pioneering a Hip Hop movement.

On the album's Talib Kweli-assisted [click to read] title track [click to listen], Phil declares, "I print my album on recycled paper, so you ain't gotta cut the rainforest for me to sing the chorus." The release, put out through Greenstreets Records, indeed uses minimalist, 100% recycled, eco-friendly CD sleeve. The emcee also partnered with American Forest / Global ReLeaf to plant a tree for every CD sold of Think Green.

Planned for early 2009 release, Think Green features 15 tracks with help from Strong Arm Steady, Jean Grae [click to read], Planet Asia, Chace Infinite and veteran west coast producer-turned-rapper Blaq Toven.
