According to The Miami Herald, on Monday night an aspiring Miami rapper was shot and killed by police after a standoff in the attic of a home in Miami Gardens.

According to police, Anthony “Dollar Bill” Levy had barricaded himself in the attic with a bulletproof vest and ammunition. A special response team was called in and Levy was shot when he attempted to stab one of the officers.

‘These bad guys need to understand they need to comply,John Rivera, president of Miami-Dade’s Police Union told The Miami Herald. “They can’t be making threatening moves toward police officers.

Although police have reported that Levy was carrying a knife it has yet to be confirmed if he was armed or not.

We believe he may have been armed during that confrontation,Miami-Dade Police Department Detective Roy Rutland explained to Miami’s CBS 4.

Before his death, Levy was wanted on several charges including aggravated kidnapping, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm on school property.

Levy’s mother explained to The Miami Herald that he was an up and coming rapper who was trying to get his life together and that he was working on music in his studio when police had arrived. 

He’s a rapper, but he’s not a bad boy the way they say,Levy’s mother Marie Ascencio explained to the Herald.

The crime scene is currently being investigated by Miami Gardens Police and Miami-Dade Police.
