Play-N-Skillz Talk About Grammy Win

Similar to Drew Correa [click to read], the Dallas duo Play-N-Skillz were nominated for a handful of Grammys earlier this month [click to read] following their work with Lil Wayne and his album Tha Carter III, including their club hit single Got Money [click to listen] for Best Rap/Sung Collaboration. On the night of the event, the brothers were humbled as they won their second Grammy in three years, with their first award coming in 2007 for producing Chamillionaires Ridin Dirty.

Summing up their excitement to win multiple Grammys meant, Skillz tells HipHopDX, Winning our second Grammy and being nominated five times really helps solidify that we belong here.

Of course, even with their current status, Play mentioned they still have more work left to progress their Hip Hop legacy. This win makes me feel even more motivated to continue to make good music and it shows me that my brother and I are on the right track and doing what we were meant to do.

Speaking with MTV recently, Play stated that Got Money almost didnt make it to Weezy, due to various artists attempting to buy it, and then of course, the multiple album delays. [Tha Carter III] had so many release dates...then we was hoping our song didn't get leaked. We was hoping that this song didn't end up on DJ Dramas Gangsta Grillz 28 and then don't make it to the album.

Because of their new found success, Play-N-Skillz will be featured on MTV and MTV2 this week for their Dallas Week segment, which covers up-and-coming artists, clubs, and an overall Hip Hop culture emerging from this southern city.
