Eminem sentenced to probation

April 12th, 2001 | Author:

Grammy winner and media darling Eminem was been sentenced to two years probation yesterday for carrying a concealed weapon. The rapper pleaded guilty to the charge and in exchange, the prosecution dropped a charge of assault with a dangerous weapon.

Macomb County, Michigan, judge Antonio Viviano ordered Em to undergo drug testing and counseling during his probation. He will be allowed to travel within the lower 48 U.S. states for work, but not out of the country.

The charge stems from a June 4, 2000, incident outside a Warren, MI, nightclub. Em confronted a man whom he saw kissing his wife Kim, but no shots were fired. The judge took this, and the fact that Em had no previous record into account. The charge carried a maximum sentence of five years.
