"Crack A Bottle" Sets SoundScan Record
Although his highly anticipated album Relapse is still weeks away from being released, Eminem is already setting records.
Em's first single off of Relapse, "Crack A Bottle" [click to listen], set a Nielsen SoundScan record today when it became the song with the highest opening week download sales. Last week the single became iTunes' top download, despite an unfinished version being heavily bootlegged upon its release.
With a total of 418,000 sales, "Crack A Bottle" beat out the former record holder, T.I. and Rihanna's "Live Your Life". Aside from the SoundScan record, "Crack A Bottle" will also reach the number one spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart when it's released tomorrow.
Not only will "Crack A Bottle" be featured on Eminem's Relapse, but it will also be added to 50 Cent's upcoming album, Before I Self Destruct. Although there is not set release date for Relapse, 50 told Hollyscoop.com last month that the album is on its way.
"[He's] currently mixing his album right now," 50 Cent explained to Hollyscoop.com. "So it won't be more than maybe two weeks before [the label] starts figuring out the scheduling of the release of his actual project."
50 Cent's Before I Self Destruct is set to be released on March 24.

fuck what anyone says, i'm a huge three headed monster fan but crack a bottle is nowhere near the best of their capabilities but as you can see it's still blowing up the airwaves! i personally like the track though i'm not crazy about the hook! i think that eminem's third verse on the unfinished version should have made it on the finished track but i'm not complaining, anything new from the great white hype is always good to hear! if all goes to plan 09' should be a huge year for shady/aftermath/g-unit with relapse, detox, BISD, the reformation, art of dying, brilliant mistake etc. the takeover has begun already lol!

OK, i don't care if all of these haters like the song or not. I personally think the intrumentals are SICK. Jazzy piano, laced with Dre Drums!!!. I can see the video being in black and white at an old western whore house with piano and gambling and drinking. Now, whether you like the song or not, everyone needs to buy it. i bought it 3x from itunes. They need to call their favorite radio station and request it. Why? the better these singles do the sooner we are going to see albums from em and dre and again whether "crack a bottle" is your cup of tea or not, I guarantee we would all like to hear albums from both of those artists. hell, I'll even take 50's album over all this auto-tune Sh*t.

It's a not bad track but I'm surprised it's a single off an actual album. I though maybe there was an Aftermath mixtape to promote all three albums coming out or whatever. Always glad to see Shady and Dre do numbers and set records though.

Let's be serious. Dre's a legend - both albums dope, Em's first two albums and all early stuff - ill. 50's debut was hot and some of his early mix-tapes, listenable. Everything else these cats have been doing together is mediocre, recycled and uninspired.
This new track, while it may be catchy, is straight up wack. No reasons at all for this to be as popular as it is.
Bottom line is while Em may be one of the sickest lyracists of all time, he hasn't proven it in a minute. Encore was wack. He should have dropped his own blueprint or stillmatic by now. I agree with real hip hop heads on this site, dudes regressing.
I don't understand how ya'll can blindly support this shit. This track should be fire given the names on it and the time away.
Just cause you're down with an artist, doesn't mean you support everything they release. This is why the artform be so watered down.

There's no question Em decided to give this song to 50 to boost BISD sales. Get Up and Get It In are strictly avergae - this is exactly the kind of hype 50 needs right now.
As for the song - true Em hasn't proven shit since way back in 02, but after hearing his verse on this, im feeling that Relapse is gonna be his own Stillmatic/Blueprint.
Oh yeah and the Del/Aesop Rock version was much better. 50 and Dre both sound pretty dead on this. Im thinking if 50 takes over the hook and changes it up a bit, it could improve the song drastically.
