When Kanye West traded his raps for Auto-tune assisted singing, some may have cringed but others applauded Kanye for his daring style. Nevertheless, the the questions have remained as to whether or not Yeezy would ever rap again. According to an interview he had at one of President Obama‘s inaugural parties, Kanye is back to the rhymes.

First, he spoke on the occasion.

“As optimistic as I am, I still can’t believe it,” he told MTV of the fact that America has elected the first African American president in its history. “I feel like I’m in the future. First iPods, now this,” he said, half jokingly. “At the end of the day, we try to complain about this country, but this is the greatest country in the world….Only in America! That’s what me and my dad were talking about.”

Obama had met with me and my mother shortly after the [Hurricane] Katrina comment. Just meeting him then, he was a very compelling individual,” he added. “Now, it’s just the energy. It’s like someone from your hometown, just making it all the while. Obama is now and will be one of the most important iconic figures in history.”

He was also questioned as to what he would ask of the new president.

“If he can somehow calm down the amount of violence in the world and use America’s power and influence to help that happen.”

Before the interview ended, Kanye wanted to make a call for an invitation to one of Los Angeles’ longest running and acclaimed underground Hip Hop radio shows. He also wanted to announce his comeback to rap.
