Malcolm Smith may have trouble trusting some of his Democratic Party members, but Senator Smith can be glad to have Queens icon LL Cool J on his side.

While The Gang of Three, three democratic senators, have vowed not to let Senator Smith become New Yorks first African American Senate Majority Leader due to his support for legalizing same sex marriage, LL Cool J believes Senator Smith should stick to his guns.

Malcolm should really search within himself and decide what he feels is in the best interest of the state, LL said.

Smith looked to have struck a deal earlier this week, but once again his stance on civil rights derailed the progress.

LL Cool J believes the Senators opinions are crucial to his success. He said, Sometimes altering your position is the right thing. Sometimes its not.

Senator Smith represents southeast Queens in the state senate and met the Hollis rapper several years ago while organizing a community sports tournament for teens. The two immediately became friends. LL said Smith, really helped me navigate the system.

Now LL has offered his services to the senator while rumors float around regarding plans to dethrone the projected majority leader.

Hes always kept his word with me. Anything that I can do as a friend to help him, Ill do it.

LLs latest album Exit 13 [click to read] was released in September of this year.
