Stephen Colbert, host of Comedy Central‘s The Colbert Report, is
attempting to humble Chicago rapper Kanye West in a mission Colbert has
dubbed “Operation Humble Kanye.”

Along with Kanye‘s recent antics, Colbert seemed somewhat bothered by the fact that Kanye‘s new album 808’s & Heartbreak [click to read] has reached the number one spot on iTunes while Colbert‘s latest album A Colbert Christmas: The Greatest Gift Of All has only managed to reach the number 15 spot.

Colbert even went on to shoot down Kanye‘s remarks on being the “voice of this generation.”

The only response to Colbert‘s remarks made by Kanye appear on his
Twitter page where his headline reads, “Who the fuck is Stephen
Colbert
?

808’s & Heartbreak was released last Monday and the albums first single, “Love Lockdown” has gone on to sell over 1.3 million downloads on iTunes.

UPDATE: On his blog, Kanye West has dismissed the response from the Twitter account was in fact a fake.

On Thursday, through Colbert‘s viewer encouragement, the comedian and conservative talk show host pushed past Kanye West‘s album to #3, after Britney Spears and Akon respectively.
