New Album: Grandmaster Flash

April 5th, 2002 | Author:

Let’s take this one back to the classics…Grandmaster Flash is back! Although he is without the Furious Five and won’t be on the mic spreading his message, he is still going to try and educate some newer fans of the roots of the rap game. The hip hop pioneer is preparing a compilation album that features some of the best from the 70’s and 80’s.

The album will feature James Brown, Blondie, Positive Force, D-Train, Maze, Frankie Beverly, and Afrika Bambaataa. The album is called “The Essential Mix” and will hit the streets on May 7th. Flash is best known for his 1982 hit “The Message” with his group the Furious Five. The song was the first hip hop song with a political message to garner any attention. There is a reason that KRS and Chuck D bow to this man, Puffy on the other hand just jacked his beat.
