Arrest Warrant Issued For Mos Def
TMZ.com reports photographer Volker Corell has filed felony robbery and malicious destruction of private property charges against rapper/actor Mos Def. According to Correll, Mos Def (government name, Dante Smith) allegedly snatched a camera off his neck and smashed it, before leaving with the camera. The photographer also claims to have suffered injuries to his hand during the incident, which he says happened in August.
Correll was listed as a credentialed press photographer at the Men's Apparel Guild in California (MAGIC) Trade Show, and says he took photos of Mos Def and other attendees. The annual event usually attracts various members of the Hip Hop and entertainment communities looking for the latest trends in fashion and streetwear.
Mos Def has yet to publicly comment on the charges. His upcoming album, The Ecstatic, is scheduled for release on February 9, 2009 via Downtown Music. Mos will also play the role of legendary rocker Chuck Berry in the film Cadillac Records, which will be released on December 5.
