New York’s Power 105.1 had a number of celebrities, including Oprah Winfrey, call into the Ed Lover Morning Show to discuss the importance of the election and the reasons to vote. Despite Winfrey‘s past disagreements with a number of people in the Hip Hop community, she was in full agreement with T.I. [click to listen], Usher, P. Diddy, Busta Rhymes and Q-Tip [click to read] on the subject of voting.

Oprah discussed her plans to be with Democratic nominee Barack Obama at Grant Park in Chicago tonight, as well as her belief in the change voting in this election will bring.

“I voted early the other day and it was a wonderful thing,” she explained. “I wasn’t in my normal precinct, because I was doing the early voting. The precinct was across the street from a drug treatment center. There were 37 women who had just detoxed, and they had come over to vote for the first time.”

Oprah, who stated she already has her inauguration dress picked out, believes today is the day for Obama, saying, “I believed from the beginning that he is the one, it’s a day of rejoicing.”

T.I. and Busta Rhymes, who both have had well-documented run-ins with the law, called in and explained how having prior arrest records didn’t prevent them from voting.

“I had to beat the rush, even though I stood in line for an hour it was definitely worth it,” said T.I., who voted for the first time this year. “In Georgia, as long as you’re not serving a sentence, or you’re not on probation…as long as you’re not under jurisdiction right now, you still can vote.”

Kevin Liles, head of Warner Music Group, urged people to get off the couch and go vote saying, “If you can stand in line for a Lil’ Wayne CD, then you can stand in line to vote.”
