Danity Kane's Aubrey Shuts Down The Rumor Mill
In an interview with Complex, O'Day spoke on a variety of issues, including the public perception of who she is.
"I think urban guys look at me and are like, Heres the white girl Im gonna fuck, she told the magazine. Later, she went on to explain how she is usually greeted by some men. "So this nasty guy came up to me and says, Come here. Im the man, havent you heard? And I said, Well, Im the woman, havent you heard? And he was likethis is the third thing out of his mouth'Well, I have a hotel here, so when are you going to come by to my room?'...It was so embarrassing and corny. I was disgusted. Its funny that they think they can talk to me like that, like its so easy. 'Theres that ho from Danity Kane, let me get her off tonight.'
She went further with the subject, adding that she is "okay" with being called a "whore" for the rest of her life. When asked if she feels responsible, at least in part, for the perception people have of her, she said she did not feel she built that reputation on her own, but rather blamed Making the Band producers for the way she is portrayed on the show.
"You dont build your persona on reality TV. They build your persona on reality TV. I just learned to stop wanting to control it. Hey, they need the bad girl of the group, and no one else is going to take that role. ...Out of this group of women, I am definitely the most daring. I would be the natural pick for the badass. This is the truth about meIm just really real. ...If I have to be ridiculed and called a whore and the party animal and the dumb girl for the rest of my career, Im okay with that. Because I love who I am. Youre going to have to interpret me however youre going to interpret me."
When told that Cassie dispelled rumors of her and Diddy being together, and confronted about rumors of her romantic link with Puff, she replied, "Oh, those are rumors?"
"...Its ridiculous. And trust me, of all the things that Im attracted to in a man, Diddy is none of those things. I run my career, I dont depend on anyone else to make me hot."
Following this, she was also asked about tension in the group, due to negative feelings towards her.
"I can answer that question this way: I am very dedicated to Danity Kane, and nothing I can ever do will conflict with my respect, love, and dedication to that project. So, on my end, there will never be any issues. I cant speak for anyone else, but I can speak for myself."
She also added that the group is tied down for another five albums, at least. However, she said it may not get to that point.
"In a perfect world, thats what appears to be the case. But, as we all know, this world is not perfect."
Finally, showing no regrets about her part in Making the Band, she noted that it has catapulted her to where she is today.
"Since I was three years old, I wanted to be starring in a musical on Broadway. And now I am. Was it worth it? Yes, because today I am living the thing Ive always dreamed of doing."
In the interview, O'Day goes on to talk about anal sex, her love of interracial porn, and her period. So far, there is no word from Diddy or Bad Boy regarding the interview.
