Webbie Arrested After High-Speed Police Chase

Webbie was arrested and jailed on Sunday (Sept 14) after evading police on a high-speed chase that started on Interstate 59 in Hattiesburg, MS.

According to wafb.com, police say an officer tried to stop the rapper's 2009 Dodge Challenger for a traffic violation. Webbie ignored police lights and contined driving recklessly, until he exited off of the freeway.

Eventually, the Challenger collided with a black, 1999 Mercury Cougar, but kept going. Police attended to the victims in the other car, and lost sight of the Challenger.

Hattiesburg police later found a damaged Challenger abandoned in a Walmart parking lot, where witnesses reported seeing the driver get out of the damaged car, and into a 1993 Ford Crown Victoria.

Police found Webbie in the second car, and was arrested. He was then transported to Forrest County Regional Jail, where he was charged with one count of felony eluding, one count of driving under the influence, and ane misdemeanor count of possession of marijuana.

Officers say a small amount of marijuana was found inside the Challenger. They also said Webbie has a pending felony charge of aggravated assault with a motor vehicle.

The other passengers in the Crown Victoria were questioned and later released.
