Fat Joe Calls Out Daddy Yankee For McCain Support
Earlier this week, in an Arizona high school, the Interscope Records platinum performer announced his support, and spoke to the urban youth on the candidate's strengths, via a YouTube clip, posted below.
Another artist of Latin heritage, Fat Joe [click to read], told MTV late Thursday, that the Puerto Rican Yankee is a "sellout" for doing so.
"Im talking to little cousins that like [Yankee] and all that, and theyre starting to believe that John McCain is [the best candidate]. I cant have that," said the Bronx-born member of D.I.T.C.
Noting the affect the endorsement had, the Hip Hop veteran added, I felt like I wanted to vomit when I seen that. The reason why I called him a sellout is because I feel he did that for a [publicity] look, rather than the issues that are affecting his people that look up to him. How could you want John McCain in office when George Bush and the Republicans already have half a million people losing their homes in foreclosure? Were fighting an unjust war. Its the Latinos and black kids up in the frontlines, fighting that war. We over here trying to take the troops out of Iraq and bring peace. This guy immediately wants war. If not with Iraq or Afghanistan, hell start a new one with Iran. I feel real disgusted that Daddy Yankee would do that. Either he did that for a look, or hes just not educated on politics.
In November, Joe expressed positive support of both Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton to HipHopDX, as the two competed for the Democratic bid at the time.
